To celebrate the sunny season,
Klaremont has teamed up with five of London's finest cocktail institutions to
give you a definitive list of our favourite summer cocktails.
Riot Cup No.1 Peg + Patriot
First off we have a creation from Matt Whiley’s new establishment, Peg + Patriot. Renowned for his work at Talented Mr Fox at One Leicester Street Hotel, Matt has had a hand in creating some truly ground-breaking and innovative bars. Peg + Patriot follows this same blueprint and the menu is certainly unique to say the least. “Marmite Martini” and “Salt Beef Sazerac” are just some of the creations you can expect to see.
For our summer cocktail selection, Matt
created a light and refreshing drink, ideal at the end of a long summers day.
The Riot Cup No. 1 is a mix of White Port, O’ Clock
Sugar, Cucumber Acid and Ginger Ale, topped with Pea Shoots, Borage Flowers and
Leaves.
The perfect cocktail needs the perfect
glass, and Matt has opted for the Bach Crystal HiBall. A super fine rim and classic panelled design brings
this impeccably refined drink to life.
Coco Para Dios Cocobananas, Battersea
Next is another relatively new bar, Cocobananas from the team
behind Bunga Bunga. Cocobananas brings us a bit of Brazilian
paradise encapsulated in a bar situated in Battersea.
Based on a typical Brazilian beach shack, the fun-loving South American
atmosphere is captured perfectly in the décor and their menu. The staff serving
drinks even wear surf shorts/sarongs!
It’s hard to find a drink which sums up
summer more than the Coco Para
Dios. Expert bartender Nicolo
Cago has created the ultimate
sharing cocktail, featuring Pampero Blanco Rum and Jax Coconut Water, topped
with Mint, Lime and Agave syrup.
The Coco Para Dios is served in one of
our amazing Coconut Tiki Mugs. Beautifully painted to give an authentic coconut effect, the
Tiki Mug is 100% ceramic with a matt glazed finish. Combined with paper straws
in a bamboo effect and stirrers in the shape of palm trees, Copacabana beach
doesn't seem so far away!
The Coconut Tiki Mug, Bamboo Paper Straws and Palm Tree Stirrers are all available to buy now from
Klaremont.
The Orangery Aqua Shard, London Bridge
The Orangery Aqua Shard, London Bridge
Based in one of the most iconic buildings
on the London skyline, Aqua Shard has already built a reputation as
one of the hubs of fine dining in the capital. 31 floors up The Shard you’ll
find Aqua Shard, serving contemporary British cuisine with a food and drinks
menu to match the breathtaking views. Head bartender Myles Donneky is
doing a fantastic job at ensuring the quality of cocktails produced are of a
standard we would expect from such a marvellous establishment.
For our summer cocktails selection,
Myles has created The Orangery. The perfect combination of Aperol,
Gin and Lemon, The Orangery is a testament to simplicity and mixology at its
finest. Finished off with a touch of basil, this summer cocktail is sure get
you in the summer spirit or provide you with solace if the weather isn’t so
sunny.
To complement the sophisticated
composition that is The Orangery, Aqua Shard present it in the equally
elegent SchottZwiesel Pure Martini Glass. Made from Tritan titanium crystal, this
contemporary adaptation of a classic wine glass is the ideal combination of
durability and design.
The Schott Zwiesel Pure Martini Glass is
available to buy now from Klaremont.
Daisy Flower Martini Communion Bar, Camberwell
Another fairly new bar on the list is Communion Bar. If you’re based
in South London, and are a fan of intricate stained glass windows, this should
be your new hangout! The theological theme continues through to the décor and
menu. The menu itself takes a lot of inspiration from the local South London
community so expect some Jamaican and African inspired cocktails.
Bar Manager Robert Krajewski has picked the wonderful Daisy Flower Martini to add to our summer cocktail
selection. A delicate mix of Daisy infused Lillet Blanc and Vodka served with
grapefruit and lemon zest provides us with an abundance of summer flavour we’ve
been waiting all year for. Nothing says summer in Britain more than daisy
flowers, especially when they’re perched on the end of your cocktail glass!
Being the quaint summer aperitif it is,
The Daisy Flower Martini is served in a splendid 2.4oz Liquer Saucer. Made from the finest crystal glass, it’s both elegant
enough to dazzle your guests and functional enough to resist any scratches.
Last but certainly not least we
introduce to you Venn St.
Records. Exposed brickwork adorned with music memorabilia, stacks of vinyl
behind the bar and a large neon light sign give the place a really distinctive
character.
For our summer cocktail list, bartender
Alex has selected The Badger,
a twist on the classic Yellowbird. Dark Rum and Curacao is blended with lime
juice, brown sugar, pineapple and orange juice to give this cocktail a real
kick!
What better way to serve such a
delicious drink, than in an equally appealing Michelangelo Crystal Coupe.
Beautiful Italian design coupled with titanium reinforced stems make this coupe
perfect for cocktails like The Badger, but just as effective for champagne or
wine.
