Klaremont popped down to the London Coffee Festival at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. A real celebration of the capital's burgeoning independent coffee culture, and like the Craft Beer Rising Festival a couple of months ago, an inspiring mix of new blood and old hands driving the sector forward.
It is fantastic
to see the explosion of independent coffee shops taking on the chains, with their
artisan approach and superior end product. The Starbucks and Costa stalls were
lonely places, the tumbleweed amplified by their larger pitches that bigger
marketing budgets allow. Looking at the bustling stands of small scale roasters
and coffee shops, it was clear who is taking the fight to who.
